Workout Regimen x hh

I’ve always been a pretty athletic and motivated person, so staying active is not too difficult for me! I have recently been getting in the habit of trying to get outside or get moving for at least 30 min to an hour every day. Whether it’s going for a walk, doing an ab circuit by (my fave) Katie Austin, going for a run, surfing, or doing a workout class, I like to keep my body active and my mind relaxed for a little part of each day. I’m so fortunate to live near the beach because I do not (and I cannot stress this enough) enjoy running indoors. Treadmills are simply not it for me, honey.

Anywho, since I have had just SO much free-time being home from Italy (sad vibes), I decided to really focus on perfecting my personal workout routine. Without further ado, here’s my weekly regimen, broken down by days:

Monday~ Rest/light workout. Mondays are typically my day “off” from working out because, well you know how Mondays are. To get moving, I usually go for a walk with my mom on the strand. I love these walks because it’s a great way to spend time with her after she’s done with work, and it gets us hungry for dinner!

Tuesday~ Run! Now that it’s springtime, I try to take advantage of the great weather by running outside and breathing in the fresh ocean air. My happy running place in the strand, and my typical 3-4 mile route consists of running down Pier Ave. from my house, up to Manhattan Beach, and back to the Hermosa Beach Pier. Then I do a cool-down walk all the way up the hill to my house.

Wednesday~ Cross-train. For cross-training days, I like to do a Katie Austin workout, SoulCycle or GreenYogi class, or, if the waves are good, SURF!!! Cross-training is seriously so important to staying fit because it not only prevents your workouts from getting boring, but it also aids in toning other parts of your body.

Thursday-Sunday~ I usually try to run the same route every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, with some minor changes. For example, I might run towards Redondo rather than Manhattan, or I might run on the Green Belt for a small portion of the workout. Depending on my plans, I keep Friday open as a rest/light workout day, but sometimes I have to adjust and switch it out with Saturday or Sunday--because after all, a night at The Deck can keep me on the couch for days ;).

I’m currently working towards a new goal of running a half-marathon in the next couple of months, so I’m also going to be slowly increasing my mile count for my runs on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Will keep updating on that!
