BEWWWWKS!
That is actually such a cringey way to spell books, but like roll with it pls.
OKAY, so I’ve legit never really been a “book worm” (ew @ that phrase), but since being literally out of school lol, I’ve been reading a lot. (Not to brag, but I did also read a decent amount in the past year or so). AnywHO, my absolute favorite-of-all-time bookstore is Pages in downtown MB. Love the vibes, love the people, love the products.
I think it was last year when I discovered my favorite author: Elin Hilderbrand. She knows how to spill some serious TEA in all of her stories, and I’m so here for it. If you aren’t, keep scrolling. She’s just such a great writer and I’m just obsessed with her books, so she def takes up majority of my reading list…
Here are all the books I recently finished + one I’m working on:
The Rumor, Elin Hilderbrand. An absolute drama-fest that takes place on Nantucket (goals). So much tea to be spilled.
The Vacationers, Emma Straub. Tea is also spilled throughout this novel, but it takes place in the majestic islands off of Spain. So dope.
The Editor, Steven Rowley. Picked this off the best-sellers table at Pages and definitely was worth the read. A bit long and drawn-out, but the overall message was sweet. *Also involves lotsssaa drama.
The Perfect Couple, Elin Hilderbrand. Murder mystery involving a wedding on Nantucket. Intriguing to say the least! A ton of tea.
The Island, Elin Hilderbrand. Not AS much tea as the above Elin books, but still enough to keep me reading. Just gave it to my mom to read bc it’s about a girls-only fam trip, and I think it’s super cute and heart-warming. Also takes place on Nantucket.
Modern Lovers, Emma Straub. I’m only a few chapters into this one and so far so good, but not as much tea as I was hoping at the beginning. (EDIT 4/16: Could not get through it. Too boring sorry /:)
The Summer of ‘69, Elin Hilderbrand. TEA!!! I love Elin and her books about the summertime!! Makes me wish I could go jump in the ocean or have a chilled glass of Sancerre with my girls. So interesting to learn about the late ‘60s too since I was born in 1999 lol.
The Summer of ‘79, Elin Hilderbrand. This was just a quick 60-ish page book that basically “catches up” with the crew from ‘69. Fun to see how they end up!
Summerland, Elin Hilderbrand. My homegirl at it again with this book! Takes places on Nantucket (surprise!) lol and is tre suspenseful. It’s not a murder mystery, but kinda ?? I def couldn’t read it at night for some reason bc it kinda creeped me out, but nevertheless a good read.
That Summer in Ischia, Penny Feeny. HAD to read a book about the southern Italian coast or else I was going to explode! I was supposed to be there rn with my parents, so I decided to look for any and every book on my kindle that had to do with beaches in Italy. This book was good! A lot of twists and turns, but gave me a mental escape. Def not what I thought it would be ;).
*I have a weird thing for books about the east coast or vacation destinations.
